You can count on it being a doggone good time! \nThen\, at 7 pm\, Diyet & The Love Soldiers will hit the stage. Their music is alternative country\, folk\, roots and traditional\, with catchy melodies and stories deeply rooted in Diyet’s Indigenous world view and northern life. Backed by Love Soldiers: husband and collaborator\, Robert van Lieshout (acoustic guitar\, drums & percussion) and Juno Award winning producer\, Bob Hamilton (electric guitar\, pedal steel & mandolin) this trio multi-instrumental trio from the Yukon has a sound that can fill a big stage or capture an intimate room. \nDuring the last decade Diyet & the Love Soldiers have performed nationally in Canada and internationally in Europe. SUMMARY:Elise Boulanger opens for Tanika Charles - Music in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Trail and District Arts Council presents Kootenay Savings Music in the Park featuring Tanika Charles with opening act Elise Boulanger on Thursday July 27th at 6:15 pm at Gyro Park\, Trail. \nThe Trail & District Arts Council is very excited to get the community back together this Summer at Gyro Park for Music in The Park. With eleven shows and two acts per night\, from June 22 to August 31\, it’s the perfect opportunity for all the family to get together outside and listen to great live music. \nThis season we have a great mix of music from local favourites to touring talent! \nOn July 27 Elise Boulanger brings her Indie-Folk 3 piece to play a unique chamber music/indie folk mix\, followed by Tanika Charles and her band playing a contemporary twist on classic soul and R & B sounds. \n \nPerforming for over 15 years\, Elise Boulanger is a sweet darkness wrapped in orchestral instrumentation. Hailing from the West Coast of Canada\, this Indie-Folk artist completely captivates audiences with her haunting avalanche of a voice. Boulanger is a bilingual environmental advocate that creates cinematic dreamscapes atop cello\, violin\, piano\, drums\, and ukulele. Deemed as “definitely one to watch” by the Times Colonist\, Boulanger is influenced by nature and is sonically reminiscent of Kate Bush. She continues to be played by national community/college radio\, CBC Radio Canada and has made TV appearances on CKPG’s Today Show (2022). For more\, visit https://www.eliseboulanger.com. \nTwo-time Juno Award nominee and Soul music powerhouse Tanika Charles has slowly but surely inserted herself as a staple of the genre both at home and abroad. Her music revels in honesty and attitude\, her live show is high energy and endearing\, and she continues to win audiences over one album\, one stream\, and one encore at a time. Tanika’s latest album is “Papillon de Nuit: The Night Butterfly”\, which follows her formula of marrying classic soul influences with modern sensibilities. The album received widespread critical acclaim and again earned her a Polaris Music Prize long-list nomination. Tanika has embarked on numerous domestic and international tours since 2017\, performing in front of many thousands of fans across a dozen countries. Her music can be heard in TV shows such as “Working’ Moms” and “Kim’s Convenience”.\n“Impressive vocal qualities\, winningly honest lyrics\, and a contemporary twist on classic soul…” – Albumism \nBring a lawn chair. Admission is by donation – $3 minimum suggested. Or support the Trail Arts Council’s programming by buying a Season Pass for the whole summer for $50!
