More details to come! \nThe creation of Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet® is monumental for Canada’s Ballet Jörgen as it is the first time the story has been authorized for creation as a full-length ballet. Making the production even more special\, a company of 16-20 dancers will be joined on stage by 8 local dancers. \nAnne of Green Gables is a 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery (published as L. M. Montgomery). Although written for all ages\, it is cherished by many children. Anne Shirley\, a young orphan from the fictional community of Bolingbroke\, Nova Scotia (based upon the real community of New London\, Prince Edward Island)\, has spent a childhood living in strangers’ homes and orphanages. Anne is mistakenly sent to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert\, siblings in their fifties and sixties\, who were expecting to adopt a boy to help Matthew run their farm at Green Gables\, in the fictional town of Avonlea. \nAnne is highly imaginative\, eager to please and quite dramatic\, but dislikes her appearance\, despising her red hair and pale\, thin frame. And\, at first\, stern and sharp Marilla wants to return Anne to the orphanage\, but after much consideration\, along with Matthew’s strong liking of Anne\, she decides to let her stay. \nAnne takes much joy in life and adapts quickly\, thriving in the close-knit farming village. Please allow 12 hours for membership status to be updated.   \nAlan Doyle— actor\, producer\, best-selling author\, and best-known as lead singer for Newfoundland’s beloved Great Big Sea these past 20+ years— hardly needs an introduction. With five solo albums under his belt\, Doyle has been touring the world with his ace six-piece band for the last decade.  \nIn late 2014\, Doyle released his best-selling memoir ‘Where I Belong’\, followed by ‘A Newfoundlander In Canada’ released in October 2017\, and ‘All Together’ now released in November 2020. Amidst these projects\, Doyle found time to write music for and appear on CBC’s Republic of Doyle\, guest on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries\, a role in 2014’s Winter’s Tale and 2010’s Robin Hood. With his 2022 live album “Here\, Tonight” and a recent JUNO nominaon for his 2021 album “Back to the Harbour”\, Doyle chalks up a lot of where he is right now to luck. “I’m the luckiest guy I’ve ever even heard of\,” he says. “This was all I ever wanted\, a life in the music business\, singing concerts.”  \nDoyle hails from Petty Harbour\, NL\, and formed Great Big Sea in 1993 with Sean McCann\, Bob Halle\, and Darrell Power\, in which they fused traditional Newfoundland music with their own pop sensibilities. Their nine albums\, double-disc hits retrospective\, and two DVD releases have all been declared Gold or Platinum and have sold a combined 1.2 million copies in Canada.  \nReserved seating. Getting an early jump on International Women’s Day\, Julie Kim performs her topical and very women centred comedy in this 19+ show that’s not for the faint hearted. Covering all the topics women know and love to hate\, this show is funny for all genders! This is one for you\, your Mom\, your sister\, your friends. Anyone who loves a good laugh and doesn’t cringe at jokes about women’s genitalia! It is 19+ show after all. So come celebrate International Women’s Day…the day before… well\, they are comedians! \nOne of Canada’s top stand-up comedians  Julie Kim recently toured across North America doing 40 theatre shows with Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians\, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah). With a mission to spread happiness\, lighten hearts\, and unite people through laughter Julie has performed at all the major Canadian comedy festivals including Just for Laughs Montreal\, Just for Laughs Vancouver\, Winnipeg Comedy Festival\, and Halifax Comedy Festival (with multiple televised performances). The show is on Sunday\, April 28 at 3:00 pm in The Bailey Theatre and is part of the TECK Family Series. \nCome discover an original musical story\, performed live by Buzz Brass’s five talented musicians\, that will carry you away to a multitude of literary and cinematographic worlds through 400 years of history. \nA dynamic classical and jazz score tells the story of Alexandra\, a young teenage girl who doesn’t appear to be of the stuff heroes are made of. Following an unusual start to her day\, Alex is handed a magic pen that allows her to visit imaginary worlds. Finding herself moving swiftly from one adventure to another Alex comes across all kinds of characters. Wanting to find answers to her questions Alex will need to decide whom she can truly trust while overcoming an unexpected threat to the balance among the worlds. Will our heroine see her perseverance rewarded and save everyone? \nThe story is told by music that carries you from Camelot’s Arthurian legends to Sherlock Holmes’ investigations then transports you to a ship out of The Pirates of the Caribbean before you board a spacecraft out of Star Wars. But the fun doesn’t end there as the music takes you to a universe of superheroes and video games before you enter the fantastical  worlds of Harry Potter\, The Lord of the Rings and James Bond. \nMusic includes: La fille aux cheveux de lin by C. Debussy; Super Mario Bros. Theme by K. Kondo; Toccata & Fugue in D minor by J. S. Bach; Sabre Dance  by A. Khachaturian; It Don’t Mean A Thing by D. Ellington; Theme from Harry Potter\, Theme from Jurassic Park and Star Wars Main Theme all by John Williams; Apprenti sorcier by P. Dukas; The Avengers – Main Theme by A. Silvestri; James Bond Theme by M. Norman; Pirates of the Caribbean by K. Badelt; and  Monsters\, Inc. by Randy Newman \nSuitable for ages 5 to 10 years old. Show length 50 minutes.      \nSince 2002\, the Buzz Brass quintet has been travelling all over the globe with over 1\,600 appearances to its credit. The numerous awards and distinctions that Buzz Brass has earned over the years (Opus\, ADISQ\, and Trille Or) attest to both the quality and the relevance of its musical performances. Thanks to numerous innovative programmes\, praiseworthy recordings\, a unique repertoire\, and a vision of classical concerts that reaches out to a wide audience\, the group now features among the most reputable brass quintets in Canada. Its latest productions have had Buzz collaborating with established symphony orchestras such as those of Gatineau\, Sherbrooke\, Winnipeg and Quebec City as well as with Ottawa’s National Arts Centre Orchestra. \n“A first-class brass quintet\, with a likeable flair for humour and for pleasing a crowd without uttering a word.” – Three Weeks Edinburgh newspaper \nThe other show in the series is iLumiDance by Rainbow Dance Theatre on Sunday\, February 18. A captivating interactive performance featuring electronic costumes\, props\, and puppets using light wire technology that enchants the audience and gets them excited about technology. Dancers and puppets are illuminated so that they appear to float in an undersea world and where gigantic colorful insects and butterflies fly around the dancers on the darkened stage. A tour-de-force of virtuosic dancing\, magic and humor and cutting-edge technology. \nNo intermission.  Reserved Seating.
