Doors at 7 pm and movie at 7:30 pm.\n\nTo make this fun event accessible to everyone films are by suggested donation of $5 per person. Tickets only available at the door. Cash or card payment available.\n\nRemember\, doors open at 7:00 pm. Get there early to buy your popcorn and get a good spot.\n\n\n \n\nOur first movie\, “The Princess Bride”\, is a classic fairy tale comedy\, with swordplay\, giants\, an evil prince\, a beautiful princess\, and yes\, some kissing.\nA grandfather reads the book “The Princess Bride” to his grandson who is at home sick. The grandson is sure he won’t like the story\, as it’s romance and he prefers something with lots of action and “no kissing”.\nButtercup is a farm girl who must marry Prince Humperdinck of Florian\, even though she doesn’t love him. She still mourns the death of her one true love\, Westley\, who went away to sea\, only to be killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts. But before she can be married Buttercup is kidnapped by a band of bandits: clever Vizzini\, a giant named Fezzik\, and expert swordsman Inigo Montoya. Hot on their heels is the infamous Dread Pirate Roberts\, followed by the Prince and his men.\n\nWhat will happen to Buttercup? Will the Prince get her back by force or ransom? Why is the Dread Pirate Roberts chasing them? And what will the grandson think of the story in the end?\n“The Princess Bride” is a movie beloved by “grown-ups” that you’ll now get to share in a big screen experience with your kids.\n“Children can see it as a bright\, frothy adventure while adults will appreciate the subtlety and the sheer wit.” – William Gallagher\, BBC\n\nDirector: Rob Reiner Cast: Cary Elwes\, Robin Wright\, Mandy Patinkin / Genre: Adventure\, Family\, Fantasy\, Romance/ Length: 1h 38 mins / Rating: PG / Country: USA / Language: English\n\n97% Rotten Tomatoes\n\nThe other screening in this series is “The Lego Movie” on July 16. Irreverent fun\, with well-known actors channeling their inner Lego personas from superheroes to average Joe’s\, or Emmetts.\n\nThe Silver Screen Outdoor Movie is sponsored by Bounce Radio\, Columbia Basin Trust\, Kootenay Savings Credit Union\, Teck Metals Ltd. and Tourism Rossland\, and made possible thanks to support from the Government of British Columbia and BC Arts Council.

SUMMARY:Livestream! Percussiano 3
DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council presents \nPERCUSSIANO 3 \nStreaming LIVE from The Bailey Theatre on Tuesday March 15th at 7:30 PM \nWatch this performance from the comfort of your home! \nJust when you thought there was nothing new on the concert scene\, along comes PERCUSSIANO 3. \nPercussiano 3 is a veritable pageant for the eye and the ear bringing together a panoply of percussion instruments with one piano. The two hands of percussionist Rod Thomas Squance and the four hands of Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann join to perform a six-handed musical marvel. With their dazzling array of instruments and brilliant display of virtuosity\, Percussiano 3 delivers all of the excitement of a percussion ensemble without losing the classical touch of a traditional concert\, presenting great masterpieces and unique transcriptions for percussion and piano. Their repertoire spans across musical styles and periods and includes works by composers like Bach\, Schubert\, Ravel\, Chabrier\, Copland\, Rachmaninoff\, Piazzolla\, Brubeck\, Saint Saëns as well as their own original compositions. \nGet a taste of the show in these video performances here. \nThe Bergmanns have performed in recital and in orchestral concerts\, as well in music festivals\, internationally for over two decades. The duo’s love for music covers a wide range\, including many of their own arrangements and compositions. Recent tours have seen the Bergmanns onstage with two-piano performances on grand piano. The Bergmann Duo have recorded for CBC\, the ARD in Germany and for National Public Radio. Their own CDs have been recorded on labels for Koch International Classics\, CordAria\, Arktos\, Naxos\, and Brilliant Classics. The duo performed with the International Piano Quartet and recorded Stravinsky’s Les Noces\, directed by Robert Craft\, at Abbey Road Studios in London\, England. \nThe Bergmanns are joined on tour by percussionist Rod Thomas Squance\, who has dazzled audiences across Canada and worldwide. He has received rave reviews for his exciting technique and captivating musicianship. Whether it be in the style of jazz\, world music\, classical\, or contemporary Rod performs internationally as a soloist and as a freelance percussionist in a variety of settings\, including chamber and orchestral. A unique opportunity to hear six virtuoso guitarists from four countries (Japan\, Canada\, Belgium\, and US)\, playing original compositions and innovative arrangements of everything from movie soundtracks\, progressive rock ’n’ roll\, world\, jazz\, and classical music. Inspired by an impromptu studio session together in Montreal in 2009\, CGT’s steel stringed-guitars blend naturally with MG3’s nylon-stringed guitars. CGT and MG3 have toured together extensively in North America\, playing everything from Queen\, The Beatles\, Pink Floyd\, and Rush\, to original compositions by the members of MG3 and CGT. \nThe Montreal Guitar Trio were described by the CBC as “the hottest guitar ensemble in Canada.” Founded in 1998\, and coming from a classical background\, members sing and write much of their material\, and have given hundreds of concerts in North America and Europe. The trio’s eclectic sound\, where jazz and world music intertwine\, takes listeners on a journey through many cultures — from the exotic melodies of India to the hot rhythms of South America\, by way of the Balkans and the traditional music of Quebec. Montreal Guitar Trio band members are Sébastien Dufour\, Marc Morin and Glenn Lévesque. \nThe California Guitar Trio’s stunning virtuosity and sly sense of humor have earned them an enthusiastic following in the progressive\, acoustic\, and classical music scenes. Fusing classical\, rock\, blues\, jazz\, world music\, progressive\, and quintessential California ‘surf music’\, the Trio has been featured on everything from the Olympics to the wake-up music for the crew aboard NASA’s Space Shuttle Endeavor. Over the past 14 years of nearly incessant touring\, the California Guitar Trio has shared the stage with superb musicians and performers such as: King Crimson\, Jon Anderson\, Tito Puente\, Taj Mahal\, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice\, Dark Star Orchestra\, Leftover Salmon\, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum\, David Sylvian\, Adrian Legg\, Kaki King and many more. The trio is comprised of Paul Richards of Salt Lake City\, Utah\, Bert Lams of Brussels\, Belgium\, and Hideyo Moriya of Tokyo\, who first met in England at one of Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft Courses in 1987. After completing several of these intensive courses\, the three toured worldwide with Fripp’s League of Crafty Guitarists. \n“If you think you have heard guitar music\, you haven’t heard these six fill the room with sound”. — The Sun Valley Journal\, Idaho 2013 \n“… this ensemble is much more than a simple guitar sextet…The experience is unique!” — Yves Bernard\, Le Devoir\, 2012 \nTwo 45 minute sets with a 20 minute intermission. \nTickets can be picked up at The Bailey Box Office Mon-Friday betweeen 12 – 4 pm.
