Joining Fawn are pianist David Restivo\, guitarist/bassist\, Doug Stephenson\, and drummer Tony Ferraro. \n“Fawn Fritzen takes the jazz vocal to another level…” – Memphis Marty\, The Jazz Music Blog \nFawn Fritzen once disdained the label “feminist”\, but time and experience reshaped her thinking. Reflecting on the crucial role of music in shaping society\, her songwriting draws on themes of feminism\, failure\, conflict\, and connection. Fawn embodies Canada’s diversity with her mixed cultural roots of Chinese\, French\, and German\, and she performs in four languages. With a powerful belter’s voice\, she will growl out some gritty blues\, then follow it with a tender ballad imbued with delicate nuance. Fawn’s eclectic shows combine beloved jazz standards alongside originals\, blending elements of roots and gospel into her singing\, layered with candid storytelling. Fawn has two studio albums under her belt\, and is the winner of the 2014 Julian Award of Excellence for Emerging Jazz Artists. \nDavid Restivo is a JUNO award-winning pianist and composer\, and the newest addition to Selkirk Music School faculty. Born in Lansing\, Michigan\, molded by the mountains and coasts of New England\, and based primarily in Toronto since 1982\, he has been a sought-after and influential figure in Canada’s jazz community since the late 1980s. Well-known for his work with Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass\, the Mike Murley Quintet\, and legendary songwriter Marc Jordan\, Restivo has performed and recorded with such renowned artists as Dave Holland\, Curtis Fuller\, Mel Torme\, Kenny Wheeler\, Jon Hendricks\, and David Clayton-Thomas. As musical and life partners\, Fawn and David have a special and heart-warming chemistry in their duo shows. \nDoug Stephenson has been an integral member of Western Canada’s music community for over thirty years. The Calgary native is a guitarist\, bassist\, songwriter\, and producer. He has performed with a wide range of artists including Melody Diachun\, Charlie Rouse\, Bob Murphy\, Les McCann\, Jay Thomas\, John Stowell\, Tommy Banks\, P.J. Perry\, Altered Laws\, Barry Romberg\, Bob Brough\, Campbell Ryga\, and Blues legend Big Miller. \nTony Ferraro is a diverse\, musical drummer that is at home with all styles of music. The show is on Sunday\, April 28 at 3:00 pm in The Bailey Theatre and is part of the TECK Family Series. \nCome discover an original musical story\, performed live by Buzz Brass’s five talented musicians\, that will carry you away to a multitude of literary and cinematographic worlds through 400 years of history. \nA dynamic classical and jazz score tells the story of Alexandra\, a young teenage girl who doesn’t appear to be of the stuff heroes are made of. Following an unusual start to her day\, Alex is handed a magic pen that allows her to visit imaginary worlds. Finding herself moving swiftly from one adventure to another Alex comes across all kinds of characters. Wanting to find answers to her questions Alex will need to decide whom she can truly trust while overcoming an unexpected threat to the balance among the worlds. Will our heroine see her perseverance rewarded and save everyone? \nThe story is told by music that carries you from Camelot’s Arthurian legends to Sherlock Holmes’ investigations then transports you to a ship out of The Pirates of the Caribbean before you board a spacecraft out of Star Wars. But the fun doesn’t end there as the music takes you to a universe of superheroes and video games before you enter the fantastical  worlds of Harry Potter\, The Lord of the Rings and James Bond. \nMusic includes: La fille aux cheveux de lin by C.
