DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council’s Jazz at The Griff Series presents the Rick Lingard Quintet on Thursday\, November 30\, 2023 at 7:30 pm in the Muriel Griffiths Room at The Bailey Theatre. More details here.  \nThe Rick Lingard Quintet features Rick Lingard as lead vocalist and saxophonist\, Juno award-winner Mike Rud on guitar\, David Restivo on piano\, Tony Ferraro on drums\, and Doug Stephenson on bass. The band’s members have played with great artists both locally and internationally. \nPreviously the music director at Mt. Sentinel Secondary School for over twenty-five years\, Rick Lingardnow owns and operates the Kootenay Music Academy (KMA) – a private music school offering a broad range of music instruction as well as recording arts. He was an instructor at the Selkirk College Contemporary Music and Technology Program and a member of many music festival organizations both locally and provincially. Rick’s past bands include No Excuse\, The Atlantics\, Playmor Junction Big Band\, Hornography and What It Is. Rick has assembled orchestras and directed the music for: “Into the Woods”\, “Fiddler on the Roof”\, “Footloose”\, “The Sound of Music”\, “Fame”\, “Beauty and the Beast”\, “Cabaret”\, “Rock of Ages” and “The Fantastiks” among others. \nMike Rud is a Juno award-winning jazz guitarist and songwriter. He is also a music instructor at Selkirk College in Nelson\, BC. As an instrumentalist\, Mike has played alongside some of the greatest jazz musicians of the era like Peter Bernstein\, Kenny Wheeler\, Herb Ellis and Joey DeFrancesco. As a songwriter and arranger\, Mike won the 2014 Juno Award for his album “Notes on Montreal”\, a critically acclaimed musical portrait of the city. \nDavid Restivo is an award-winning pianist and composer and one of Canada’s most respected and influential jazz artists. A 3-time winner of the National Jazz Awards’ Pianist of the Year Award\, and JUNO Award winner. He is well known for his work with Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass and Tentet\, the Mike Murley Quintet\, and legendary songwriter Marc Jordan. Go to the Bailey Theatre’s ticketing website tickets.trail-arts.com \n2. Click on ‘log in’ located in the upper right corner of the page \n3. Log in by entering your user name and password. Your user name is your email address. If you don’t remember your password or have never set up a password\, click thet password reset button. You will receive a password reset email from our system that will allow you to reset your password. This can take up to 30 minutes. You can also call us at the box office and we will send you a password reset email. \n4. Click on the ‘Tickets for Upcoming Performances” box under the My Patron Services column. A new page will open with a list of your shows. \n5. Find you Livestream show and click on the WATCH button. \n6. This will take you to a black ‘screen’ . If the show hasn’t started\, you will see a white stripe in the middle of the screen and a ‘starting soon’ message. If it is after 7:15 pm on show day\, just press play and you’ll be able to see our Bailey Theatre slide show. \n7. At 7:30 on show day\, the performance will begin. \n8. Sit back and enjoy the show! \nCan’t see the Show? If The Bailey theatre is experiencing technical difficulties\, we will send you an email immediately with information on what to expect next. We will send you another email when we have resolved the issue and the show has commenced. \nIf you have NOT received a ‘techncial difficulties’ email from us and you are still not able to see the show\, call us at the Box Office 250-368-9669 or email us at info@trail-arts.com. The five-piece horn section\, supported by drums\, percussion\, electric bass and guitar\, plays original music composed by saxophonist Clinton Swanson. Inspired by the sounds of world beat and funk artists such as Fela and Maceo Parker\, Hornography delivers worldly grooves\, powerhouse horn arrangements\, and creative improv. \nBand Members include tenor sax – Krispen Elder on tenor sax\, Rick Lingard on alto sax\, Clinton Swanson on baritone sax\, Michael Perkins on trumpet\, Keith Todd on trombone\, Mark Spielman on electric bass\, Rich Rabnett on electric guitar\, Al Black on percussion\, and Tony Ferraro on drums. \n“Hornography is an experience you do not want to miss!
