SUMMARY:Triangle of Sadness
DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council’s MONDAY CINEMA presents \nTriangle of Sadness \nat The Royal Theatre\, 1597 Bay Avenue\, Trail. \nMonday\, January 30\, 2023 @ 4 pm \n$12/person – No assigned seating. Only 143 seats available. \nIn Ruben Östlund’s wickedly funny Palme d’Or winner\, social hierarchy is turned upside down\, revealing the tawdry relationship between power and beauty. \nThe director of festival favourites “The Square” and “Force Majeure” is a master of satire and in the absurd\, iconoclastic riot “Triangle of Sadness” his mix of farcical comedy and searing indictment is more extreme than ever. \nCelebrity model couple\, Carl and Yaya\, are invited on a luxury cruise for the uber-rich because of their Insta-influencer status\, rubbing shoulders with arms dealers and Russian oligarchs. The “carnival of excess” is made even more ridiculous as their boat captain\, played hilariously by Woody Harrelson\, is an unhinged alcoholic Marxist. And when disaster strikes dynamics shift and the crew finally get the upper hand. \nPlease note\, this film has a scene of vomiting for an extended period of time. Some Subtitles. \n“… Triangle of Sadness is harrowing\, consistently funny\, and packed with surprises.” – Chicago Reader \n“An absurd\, iconoclastic riot…hilariously\, breathlessly entertaining.” – Empire Magazine \n“The thing about Östlund is that he makes you laugh\, but he also makes you think.” – Variety \nDirector: Ruben Östlund / Cast: Harris Dickinson\, Charlbi Dean\, Woody Harrelson / Country: Sweden\, France\, UK\, Germany\, Turkey\, Greece\, US\, Denmark\, Switzerland\, Mexico/ Length: 2hrs 27 mins / Language: English\, Swedish\, German\, French\, Greek\, Tagalog / Genre: Comedy\, Drama / Rating: PG \nWatch the trailer https://youtu.be/sWrS7f_nS9w. \nTickets can be purchased through The Bailey Box Office at tickets.trail-arts.com or by calling or visiting our box office during regular box office hours Mon-Fri from 12-4 pm.
