SUMMARY:Trail Maple Leaf Band & Diamond Willow at Music in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Classic old country rock meets concert band pieces\, show tune medleys and marches.\n\nOpening this week are Slocan Valley’s very own Diamond Willow at 6.15 pm. A classic old country and country rock trio\, Diamond Willow’s set list spans from Patsy Kline to The Eagles. Delaine Hird on lead vocals has a beautiful singing voice reminiscent of Loretta Lynn or Patsy Cline. Gene Hird on acoustic guitar performs the signature and recognizable licks with great precision and tone. Rounding off the bottom end on bass guitar and providing exceptional backing harmonies on vocals is Joe Jmaeff.\n\nHeadlining tonight from 7-8 pm is The Trail Maple Leaf Band! The theme for tonight’s concert program is “music associated with the movies”.\n\n“The Trail Maple Leaf Band” was formed in 1917 when an older community band\, “The Trail Italian Band”\, changed its name. Since that time “The Trail Maple Leaf Band” has entertained many different audiences at a myriad of venues. \nThe Band’s concert will be conducted tonight by guest conductor\, Laura Johnson. \nA smaller than normal band of 12\, but still packing all the musical wonder of the “Trail Maple Leaf Band” that we all know and love. \n“The Trail Maple Leaf Band” thanks the Trail Arts Council for including them into this year’s “Music in the Park” concert series. \n\nLearn more at http://www.trailmapleleafband.ca/.\n\nKootenay Savings Music in the Park is held at Trail’s Gyro Park every Thursday starting at 6.15 pm\, except for the Night Market shows on July 7 and August 4 when the event will run from 5 pm.
