SUMMARY:Livestream! Fractal Jazz Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council’s Jazz at the Griff Series presents \nLIVESTREAM! Fractal Jazz Quintet \nStreaming Live from The Griff on Thursday\, March 31st at 7:30 pm (Virtual Doors at 7:15). \nLivestream tickets $15. Instructions for accessing the Livestream on show night are posted at the bottom of this page. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone (250-368-9669). Or visit our Box Office during our regular hours Monday to Friday 12-4 pm. Two 45 minutes sets with a 15 minue intermission. \nFractal Jazz is a Kootenay-based instrumental jazz group playing standards\, ballads\, cookin’ bebop tunes and original compositions. With influences spanning multiple jazz styles\, the band guarantees a unique musical experience with every performance. \nDaralyn Fox is a trumpet player and composer/arranger based out of Rossland\, BC. Daralyn has studied music performance at MacEwan University and St. Francis Xavier University with a focus on jazz. She has also studied with William (Bill) Dimmer\, Dominic Spera\, and Jon Faddis and played with Tommy Banks\, Bobby Cairns and Dominic Spera. \nMike Rud is a jazz guitarist\, songwriter and Juno award-winner for his album “Notes on Montreal”\, who has played with current jazz greats Peter Bernstein\, Kenny Wheeler\, Herb Ellis and Joey DeFrancesco. Rud has a master’s degree from McGill and studied privately in New York City with Jim Hall. He has taught at McGill\, Western Washington\, and Carleton universities\, and is a music instructor at Selkirk College. \nDoug Stephenson has been an integral member of Western Canada’s music community for over thirty years. The Calgary native is a guitarist\, bassist\, songwriter\, and producer who has performed with a wide range of artists including Charlie Rouse\, Bob Murphy\, Les McCann\, Jay Thomas\, John Stowell\, Tommy Banks\, P.J. Perry\, Altered Laws\, Barry Romberg\, Bob Brough\, Campbell Ryga\, and Blues legend Big Miller. \nDrummer Steven Parish studied at Berklee College of Music\, as well as privately with Frankie Dunlop\, Frank Malabe\, and the great Buddy Rich. Mentored by the legendary Les Paul\, Steven’s also worked with for Cub Koda\, Ian Hunter\, Joe Bouchard of Blue Öyster Cult and Rap artist Stezo-E. He started the Music Program at Selkirk with Darcy Hepner\, Jeff Link and Paul Landsberg in 1989. \nSoren Hvenegaard joins the band on sax. The young saxophonist\, whose mentor is Clinton Swanson\, has a lot of experience behind him having played with the B.C. Honour Concert Band\, Playmour Junction Big Band\, and the Nelson Community Band. As a teenager\, Soren organized and performed a Thelonious Monk tribute concert for the legendary jazz pianist and composer’s 100th birthday. \nOur Jazz at the Griff Series is sponsored by McEwan Law. Go to the Bailey Theatre’s ticketing website tickets.trail-arts.com \n2. Click on ‘log in’ located in the upper right corner of the page \n3. Log in by entering your user name and password. Your user name is your email address..the same one that this email is addressed to. If you don’t remember your password or have never set up a password\, click thet password reset button. You will receive a password reset email from our system that will allow you to reset your password. This can take up to 30 minutes. You can also call us at the box office and we will send you a password reset email. \n4. Click on the ‘Tickets for Upcoming Performances” box under the My Patron Services column. A new page will open with a list of your shows. \n5. Find your Livestream show and click on the WATCH button. \n6. This will take you to a black ‘screen’ . If the show hasn’t started\, you will see a white stripe in the middle of the screen and a ‘starting soon’ message. If it is after 7:15 pm on show day\, just press play and you’ll be able to see our Bailey Theatre slide show. \n7. At 7:30 on show day\, the performance will begin. \n8. Sit back and enjoy the show! \nCan’t see the Show? If The Bailey theatre is experiencing technical difficulties\, we will send you an email immediately with information on what to expect next. Our 2022 Jazz Series includes: Fractal Jazz Quintet\, Melody Diachun Quartet\,  Laura Landsberg Quartet\, Rick Lingard Quintet \nTickets can be purchased online or by phone (250-368-9669). Or visit our Box Office during our regular hours Monday to Friday 12-4 pm.  Ticket can be picked up in advance at the box office\, or at the door on show night.  Groups of 4 can reserve a table through the Box Office.  Licensed event. \nCOVID Protocols\n•All attendees must present their BC or Federal Vaccine Certificate showing TWO doses of a COVID19 vaccination AND government photo identification.  Ticketholders\, who are unable to comply\, cannot attend and should contact our Box Office for a refund.\n•To increase audience comfort\, all 2022 Jazz shows are capped at 50 audience members.
