DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council’s Jazz at the Griff Series presents \nThe Melody Diachun Quartet \nThursday\, February 17 at 7:30 pm \nGeneral Admission – Muriel Griffiths Room – Masks & Proof of Vaccination Required \nThe Melody Diachun Quartet returns to Jazz at the Griff! A jazz singer with her own sound\, style\, and approach to creating new music\, Melody Diachun is a JUNO and National Jazz Award nominee as a vocalist and songwriter. She was the first vocalist admitted to McGill University’s Jazz Performance program and later studied with the great Sheila Jordan in New York. An active performer around BC\, she became a member of the music faculty at Selkirk College in 2012. \nDavid Restivo is an award-winning pianist and composer and one of Canada’s most respected and influential jazz artists. ​A 3-time winner of the National Jazz Awards’ Pianist of the Year Award\, and JUNO Award winner he has worked with many amazing artists including Boss Brass\, Tentet\, the Mike Murley Quintet\, Kenny Wheeler\, John Abercrombie\, Jerry Bergonzi\, Mel Tormé\, the Woody Herman Orchestra\, Pat LaBarbera\, George Garzone\, Randy Bachman (BTO/Guess Who)\, and Molly Johnson. ​ \nDoug Stephenson has been an integral member of Western Canada’s music community for over thirty years. The Calgary native is a guitarist\, bassist\, songwriter\, and producer who has performed with a wide range of artists including Charlie Rouse\, Bob Murphy\, Les McCann\, Jay Thomas\, John Stowell\, Tommy Banks\, P.J. Perry\, Altered Laws\, Barry Romberg\, Bob Brough\, Campbell Ryga\, and Blues legend Big Miller. \nTony Ferraro is a diverse\, musical drummer who was Percussionist of the Year at Humber College in Toronto. He has played with Juno Award winning Idle Eyes\, Classic Canadian rockers Trooper\, The Spoons\, Alpha Ya Ya Diallo\, Elizabeth Shepherd\, Michael Occhipinti\, Melody Diachun\, and Argentinian pianist Gabriel Palatchi. Tony’s passionate and intense performances are exciting to both hear and to watch. \nA 4-show pass is $68 and single tickets are $22. 2022 Jazz Series includes: Fractal Jazz Quintet\, Melody Diachun Quartet\, Laura Landsberg Quartet\, Rick Lingard Quintet \nTickets can be purchased online or by phone (250-368-9669). Or visit our Box Office during our regular hours Monday to Friday 12-4 pm. Ticket can be picked up in advance at the box office\, or at the door on show night. Groups of 4 can reserve a table through the Box Office.
