SUMMARY:Alex Cuba - Rescheduled
DESCRIPTION:NEW DATE TBA \nTDAC’s 6 Beats Apart Series presents \nAlex Cuba – Solo Performance \nTuesday February 9th. Two shows 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Each show 70 minutes. \nTickets $25 – Only 50 tickets per performance \nAlex Cuba’s music incorporates his roots in a unique amalgam of styles\, bringing together melodies\, pop-soul hooks and rock chords in songs that may seem to bear little resemblance to traditional Cuban form. Though raised in Artemisa\, an hour outside Havana\, Alex Cuba’s artistry is as far-flung as the place he has settled and lived for over fifteen years: Smithers\, BC. Alex incorporates subtle jazz influences\, gained from his early years as a bass player in Cuba\, and tasteful\, sophisticated chords and lyrics expressing his poetry in an undeniably Cuban way. \nHaving collaborated with artists ranging from Jason Mraz to Ron Sexsmith and Nelly Furtado\, Alex has over 20 awards and nominations to his name\, including 4 Latin Grammys and two Junos Awards\, and three Grammy nominations. Building on the 2017 Grammy nominated release “Lo Unico Constante” his latest album “Sublime” features six duets with Latin singers and songwriters\, including emerging star Silvana Estrada and Cuban legend Omara Portuondo. Playing every instrument\, including acoustic guitar\, upright bass and percussion\, Alex embraces genres like trova\, bolero\, son\, guajira and combines them with jazz and pop. \n“He’s like Marvin Gaye singing soul to a new generation” – Boston Globe \n“A master at conveying emotions through songs.” -Vancouver Sun \nTickets may be purchased online 24/7 or by calling the Box Office at 250-368-9669 from Monday to Friday 12-4 pm.
